The desire to impress the client drives the design and\/or layout when it should be geared towards the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The client is not going to be buying their own products. Instead, the visitors will be the ones who will be buying the products of your client. Therefore, focus on catching the eye of the buyer, not the client (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they are different<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that we\u2019ve gotten that out of the way, what is the audience looking for? If you\u2019ve done your research, then you already know a great deal about the company and what they have to offer. Now you have to figure out the best way to get the visitors engaged.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will a call-to-action work best?<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will an opt-in form work best?<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will an introductory video work best?<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Will listing all the prices work best?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is where you can show value to your client. Your job as a freelance designer is to make sure that your client understands what you are doing, and how our design is built for their audience, and not for them directly.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s look at the Oberlo website. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oberlo<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is an eCommerce solution that helps dropshipping businesses get up and running fast. A <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">study<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recently revealed that 57% of users wouldn\u2019t recommend a website to their friends that wasn\u2019t mobile optimized.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s a lot of visitors that you could be missing!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While most websites are built mobile-ready, they aren\u2019t optimized for the mobile platform. Data shows that most mobile websites can take up to 20 seconds to load completely. That is ridiculous!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you aren\u2019t sure how long your website takes to load up, you can go to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GTMetrix<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and type in your URL. Their online tool will tell you how long your website takes to load, what is slowing it down, and even offer suggestions <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to improve your WordPress or website&#8217;s speed performance<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> help speed up your loading time.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Remember, if your website isn\u2019t mobile ready, you could be losing the audience that is on the move. Are you designing for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">right now<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or for the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">future <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mobile use is not expected to decrease in the coming years.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"span_stylefont-weight_400principle_3_create_content_the_audience_can_trust_and_sharespan\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Principle # 3: Create Content The Audience Can Trust And Share<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Again, focusing on the client versus the audience, you cannot create content that is tailored to your client. Your job is to create conversions, which means you may have to talk with your client to help them understand this \u2026 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">don\u2019t be afraid to object to their requests<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freelancers have heard this over and over \u2026 <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">content is KING<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and it\u2019s absolutely true. The best content gets the most attention and the most shares. Content that is shared is read by many people, even people who weren\u2019t initially interested in whatever was being advertised (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">indirect marketing<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But you have to create content that the audience <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can trust<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will share<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This will take more time and effort but can pay off greatly. The audience already knows what the \u201cgeneric fluff\u201d is and they\u2019ll quickly identify if you are providing actual value or just more \u201cfluff\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You do not want to give them \u201cfluff\u201d, you want to give them <\/span><b><i>value<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create your buyers\u2019 personas by doing the following: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research the niche, understand the market, find out what other websites and businesses aren\u2019t answering, and provide <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">valuable <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">content to the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"span_stylefont-weight_400principle_4_dont_be_late_to_the_partyspan\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Principle # 4: Don\u2019t Be Late To The Party<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And finally, don\u2019t have a slow website!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your website design takes a long time to load, there\u2019s a good chance that the audience will bounce well before they\u2019ve had time to see the call-to-action or engage with the website.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As we said before, you can use the GTMetrix tool mentioned earlier to see how slow\/fast your website is loading. The higher your score\/lower your loading speed, the better off you\u2019ll be. Here\u2019s an example of eBay\u2019s website audit using the GTMetrix tool.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you can see, they have some work they could do. But here\u2019s the kicker \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reason that they can afford to have slower loading speeds is that they\u2019ve developed a following of people that trust them &#8211; they followed the principles listed above to create <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">value <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">value <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">convinces audiences to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trust<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">use<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recommend to others<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"span_stylefont-weight_400now_its_your_turnspan\"><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now It\u2019s Your Turn<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You have the knowledge to create websites that do much more than impress your client, now you can impress the audience which will create websites that will convert.
