O2 Telefonica has selected the Nokia AVA energy SaaS-based delivery model based on artificial intelligence to reduce energy consumption.
The pattern of network traffic can be automatically monitored using this SaaS solution from Nokia called AVA for Energy. It reduces connection resources such as base stations during times of low utilization. The technology further enables operators to lower power consumption. The solution makes sure that despite active energy-saving measures, mobile consumers don’t have any degradation in network quality.
Nokia claims that because the solution is built on the SaaS model, O2 Telefonica Germany won’t have to make a sizable upfront capital expenditure and won’t have to do on-site maintenance.
To make sure that energy-saving measures are effective, Nokia AVA regularly checks network performance.
Matthias Sauder (Director of Mobile Access & Transport Networks, O2Telefonica Germany) stated, “Efficient energy consumption is an increasingly important aspect of our network operations. We are using intelligent systems and efficient tools like Nokia AVA for Energy SaaS to achieve significant energy savings in our mobile network and help move us forward in delivering on our sustainability goals.”
Hamdy Farid (Senior VP, Business Applications, Nokia) stated, “Nokia AVA for Energy SaaS is a reflection not only of our technology leadership, providing customers such as O2 Telefónica Germany with rapid time to value with on-demand access to our software applications, but also of Nokia’s broader commitment to cut emissions across its value chain, including its own operations and products in use.”
