“Great meeting-feature for remote work”

In my remote team we needed video-calls + chat combined. Arattai let us jump into meetings easily from the same app we use for messaging and no separate tool needed.

Pros : Arattai includes a dedicated “Meetings” tab for video conferencing (much like Zoom/Meet) inside the messenger.

Cons : The participant-limit or advanced meeting features may not yet match dedicated meeting platforms.

Switched from : Zoom

Reason to switch : I came from using Zoom + a separate chat tool, and the switching overhead was irritating. Arattai combined them which made life simpler.

“Switched over because I wanted a truly Indian-made messenger”

I moved away from my old messenger because I wanted something improved for privacy and made-in-India. With Arattai I now use group chats, voice/video calls, share documents and set up meetings. It’s been a refreshing change.

Pros : Arattai is simple, ad-free and built by an Indian company; the interface is clean and I appreciate the “Pocket” personal storage feature.

Cons : I noticed that text chats are not yet fully end-to-end encrypted.

Switched from : WhatsApp

Reason to switch : I switched from WhatsApp because I wanted a locally-developed app that emphasised Indian privacy values and offered features like my own “Pocket” storage and meeting options that WhatsApp didn’t emphasise.

“Good for teams and channels, though still growing”

In my small business we set up Arattai channels for internal announcements and used group chats for teams. The “Pocket” feature helped each person keep personal notes/documents. It works nicely.

Pros : Arattai supports channels/broadcasts, stories, group chats and personal cloud “Pocket” storage.

Cons : The ecosystem (number of users, plugins/integrations) is still smaller compared with long-standing apps.

Switched from : Slack

Reason to switch : We switched from Slack plus WhatsApp combination because Slack wasn’t ideal for mobile calls/meetings and cost more. Arattai offered one app for team chat, calls & personal storage at lower cost.

“Privacy focus appealed to me but not perfect yet”

Being privacy-conscious, I appreciated that Arattai doesn’t bombard me with ads and claims local storage & India-based architecture. It gives me comfort. But yes, I am holding off full faith until all encryption is done.

Pros : Arattai emphasises that your data is private, stored in India, no ads and minimal third-party sharing.

Cons : Some key privacy features like full end-to-end encryption for text messages are still pending.

Switched from : Signal Messaging App

Reason to switch : I switched away from Signal because while secure, it lacked the meeting + channel features we needed for business. Arattai offered a compromise: decent privacy + features we wanted.

“Election-talk/creator channels look promising”

I run a small content-page and using Arattai channels I can push updates to followers. It’s nice to have one app for messaging + broadcasts. I’m hopeful it adds more creator tools soon.

Pros : Arattai supports channels/broadcasts which let me follow creators or send updates to large groups without clutter.

Cons : The feature-set is still evolving; some creator/monetisation tools missing.

Switched from : Telegram

Reason to switch : We previously used Telegram channels but needed voice/video calls and stronger Indian hosting/privacy – Arattai offered a more local alternative.

“Promising but some bugs and feature gaps still visible”

I decided to try Arattai as part of early-adopter behaviour. It’s good, but I did experience a few bugs and there are still missing features I expect from big apps. I’m keeping it alongside my primary messenger for now.

Pros : I’m impressed by the ambition made in India, clean UI, multi-device, meeting + chat + pocket.

Cons : Sending multimedia like photos and videos takes a lot of time. This needs some work.

Switched from : WhatsApp

Reason to switch : I wanted to evaluate a new alternative while having the old app as backup; I switched because I believed in the Indian-made value proposition of Arattai, but I’m still watching whether it matures fully before completely moving away.

“Loved the multi-device sync & low-bandwidth performance”

I often travel to semi-urban areas with weak connectivity. Arattai’s optimisation for slower networks meant I didn’t lose call clarity or chat performance. That was a big plus.

Pros : The app supports chats, voice/video call, document sharing and works well even on slower networks.

Cons : Some users still report initial contact-sync issues or missing contacts.

Switched from : Telegram

Reason to switch : Telegram was good, but I found chat + document share + calls in one app weren’t optimised for Indian low-bandwidth contexts as well as Arattai.

“Simple and clean UI, my grandma uses it”

I installed Arattai for family chats and calls. My parents and grandparents found it easier than the older app we’d been using because things felt straightforward and not cluttered.

Pros : The interface is clean, app is lightweight and easy enough that non-tech-savvy people in my family picked it up.

Cons : Some advanced features are fewer in number compared to legacy big apps.

Switched from : Facebook Messenger

Reason to switch : We were using Facebook Messenger for family chats but it was heavy, with many extraneous features and ads. Arattai felt simpler, lighter and ad-free.

“Free plan for basic use works, paid may be needed later”

For our small non-profit we moved to Arattai because we wanted to reduce costs while still getting voice/video+storage+chat. It works so far. If we grow, we’ll evaluate paid plans or supplementary tools.

Pros : The free version of Arattai gives many useful features chat, calls, group, storage.

Cons : If you scale up you may hit limitations and need to consider paid plans.

Switched from : Microsoft Teams

Reason to switch : We switched from Microsoft Teams (and separate chat tool) because Teams was over-feature-heavy and costly for what we needed; Arattai felt simpler and more cost-effective.

“Missed some contacts, still building presence”

I convinced my team to try Arattai, but some teammates still prefer the old messenger because others outside our circle aren’t using Arattai yet. So I still keep the older app alongside.

Pros : Good features overall.

Cons : I found many of my usual contacts weren’t yet on Arattai, network effect is still weak.

Switched from : WhatsApp

Reason to switch : I switched because I wanted to adopt Arattai early and push for it in my team but the lack of contacts did slow us down.
