“Great for Travel & Expat Use, Minor Support Frustrations”
As an expat, I move money between countries, pay rent abroad, etc. Wise simplifies this compared to carrying cash or using banks with high fees. But if something goes wrong, customer service can be slow.
Pros : When I travel, Wise has been excellent: I can pay local merchants with the debit card, convert currency when needed, and avoid heavy markups.
Cons : Occasionally, the verification or support takes time, especially in less common regions. Also, some parts of the service (like cash pickup) are missing.
Switched from : Dwolla
Reason to switch : I used to rely on bank remittances abroad which had poor rates and delays. Wise offered better rates and speed, making it more practical for frequent use.

“Excellent Multi-Currency Account, But Some Limitations”
As someone who earns in one currency and spends in another, Wise’s multi-currency wallet helps avoid repeated conversion losses. It’s very useful for travel too.
Pros : I love that with Wise I can hold balances in many currencies, convert at good rates, and transfer as needed with ease. The multi-currency features are excellent.
Cons : Some currencies have higher conversion fees; also, the daily or monthly limits for transfers can feel restrictive.
Switched from : PayKun
Reason to switch : I switched from PayKun because while PayKun offers multi-currency too, Wise’s transparency and rates were better for cross-border transfers, and I faced fewer hidden conversion losses.

“Good UX & App Experience, Minor Regional Limitations”
I use the mobile app daily to check balances, send money, and track transfers. Most of the time it works smoothly. Occasionally I hit regional limits or longer transfer times due to local banking/regulations.
Pros : The Wise app/web interface is clean, easy to use, and transaction tracking is good. Many users comment that UI/UX is pleasing and helpful.
Cons : But in some countries, certain payment methods aren’t supported (e.g. funding via local bank transfer vs card), or delays are bigger.
Switched from : Plastiq
Reason to switch : I switched because the previous app I used had a clunky interface and often ambiguous fees; Wise offered better clarity and a more polished user experience.

“Secure & Regulated, But Compliance Pauses Are Annoying”
It gives me confidence that my money is safer than in some smaller, less-regulated services. But when compliance reviews kick in (due to KYC / anti-money laundering), it can disrupt my plans.
Pros : Wise is licensed in multiple jurisdictions (UK FCA, EU, etc.), and seems serious about security and regulatory compliance.
Cons : But because of regulatory issues, sometimes my account or transfers are frozen or delayed without much explanation even if I’ve submitted documents.
Switched from : Sondepay
Reason to switch : I switched from a little-known money transfer service which had weak compliance controls, while it was cheaper, I ended up having problems. Wise’s regulatory approach gives me more trust, even with occasional delays.

“Transparent Fee Structure Is a Big Plus”
I appreciate being able to compare “what I send vs what the recipient gets” exactly. That transparency builds trust.
Pros : Wise shows exactly the fees, exchange rates, and expected delivery time before I send anything. No surprises or hidden charges.
Cons : Sometimes the guarantee on the rate (if offered) doesn’t feel honored in effect, because of delays or fluctuating intermediate currency rates.
Switched from : Nuvei
Reason to switch : I switched because banks often hid FX markups or added fees that weren’t obvious. Wise’s upfront fee + mid-market rate structure is much fairer.

“Fast, Transparent, and Trustworthy, Most of the Time”
Usually if I need to send money abroad, I open the app, specify amount, recipient, and it gets done. For smaller amounts, it’s almost instant. For bigger ones or compliance checks, there’s waiting.
Pros : The user interface is clean and intuitive; Wise clearly shows exchange rates, fees, and transfer times. Speed is often impressive.
Cons : When verification is required, or with large amounts, the process can drag. Some customers report account freezes or document requests.
Switched from : SaasPay
Reason to switch : I switched from banks because their fees and FX margins were huge; Wise gives nearly real-market rates and much lower intermediary charges.

“Some Frustration with Customer Service but Overall Dependable”
Over several years I’ve used Wise for personal and business transfers. Nearly all transfers have been smooth. Only occasionally, when something goes wrong, I feel uninformed or stuck until it resolves.
Pros : Most of the time, Wise works as expected: money arrives, rates are good, fees are clear, the platform is dependable.
Cons : When issues occur—verifications, frozen accounts, support tickets—they can take longer to resolve. Some users say support uses canned responses.
Switched from : BillFlash
Reason to switch : I moved from my bank for international transfers because banks were slower, more expensive, and harder to track. Wise gave me better control and visibility, even if support isn’t perfect.

“Excellent for Businesses Who Do Recurring Payments”
My company has regular vendor and payroll overseas; being able to upload CSVs and send multiple payments saves us a lot of effort, and Wise is pretty good at this.
Pros : The batch payment feature is handy for businesses paying multiple vendors. Also, Wise supports many currencies for business accounts.
Cons : Limits on batch sizes or daily throughput can constrain businesses. Some payment methods (credit card) are more expensive.
Switched from : Payoneer
Reason to switch : I switched from Payoneer because their fees were higher and operations more opaque for some routes; Wise gave lower fees and more automation for recurring payments.

“Good for Medium Amounts, Not Ideal for Very Large Transfers”
My personal use involves amounts up to a few thousand USD/EUR. Wise handles those well. But for large business transfers, the process becomes more bureaucratic, requiring extra documentation and taking longer.
Pros : For small to medium international payments, Wise is excellent: low fees, speedy delivery, good customer satisfaction.
Cons : If I try to send large sums, fees scale, limits apply, and verification is stricter which can delay things.
Switched from : Dwolla
Reason to switch : I switched from bank wires for medium amounts because bank markups + fees + delays were worse. Wise is far better for amounts under certain thresholds.

“Reliable Intl Transfers with Low Fees”
I’ve used Wise for sending money to family abroad and for freelance payments. It’s saved me a lot compared to using regular banks. I know the fees beforehand, so there are fewer surprises.
Pros : Wise makes international transfers cheap; exchange rates are excellent and fees are very transparent. I always know what I’m paying up front.
Cons : Verification can sometimes slow things down; occasionally transfers take longer than expected, especially to less common currencies.
Switched from : PayPal
Reason to switch : I switched from PayPal because its fees (especially for currency conversion and cross-border) were too high. Wise gives me cheaper rates and clearer cost breakdowns.
