“Solid choice overall but check your specific needs before switching”

My move to Fidelity has been positive, I feel I’m with a broker that grows with me. That said, I’m aware if I had very specific exotic needs I might evaluate others. For most of my portfolio it works well.

Pros : Fidelity is well-regarded, ranked #1 for many investor segments, combining low costs, broad offering and strong tools.

Cons : Some features (like futures, crypto in certain states, very advanced trading customisation) may be less robust than niche brokers.

Switched from : Interactive Brokers

Reason to switch : I switched because the specialist platform had too steep a learning curve, and I didn’t need all its complexity; Fidelity offered a better balance.

“Fantastic for long-term investing and mutual funds”

I build my portfolio for decades, so low?cost mutual funds and index funds matter a lot to me. Fidelity had a selection that aligned with that strategy and kept fees minimal.

Pros : Fidelity’s mutual fund selection (including zero-expense-ratio index funds) is a standout.

Cons : For ultra-short-term trading or futures, you might want a specialist broker.

Switched from : Tastytrade

Reason to switch : I switched because the previous provider had high minimums, higher fees and lacked good index fund options; Fidelity improved that.

I value knowing that if something goes wrong, I can speak to someone, and the institution is solid. Fidelity’s reputation gave me confidence.

Pros : Many reviews highlight Fidelity’s strong customer-service reputation, reliability, and trustworthiness.

Cons : Slow verification or hold issues in isolated cases.

Switched from : Alpaca

Reason to switch : I switched because my previous broker was new, less proven and had occasional glitches; Fidelity’s brand and support felt more dependable.
