“Ad Blocker is Amazing”

TotalAV’s ad-blocking feature is really the best. I can watch YouTube and movies without any of the ads ever showing. Although, it can be annoying when it flags important files as threats.

Pros : I love the ad-blocking feature since I can skip all the unwanted ads and unskippable that appear on websites. When I am browsing it really does cut down all the distractions.

Cons : It however gives false positives and sometimes flagged safe programs and files as threats which can be annoying when working on those files.

Switched from : GoTo Resolve

Reason to switch : GoTo Resolve lacked features like ad blocking which I really wanted for a better browsing experience. TotalAV also provided the extra tools I was looking for.

“Setup was Tricky but Provided with a VPN”

I was looking for an antivirus with an integrated VPN, and TotalAV’s inclusion of one sold me instantly. It was great for added online privacy. The only downside was the initial setup.

Pros : I was in search of an antivirus that had an integrated VPN. When I found out that TotalAV included a VPN for added online privacy it I was invested already.

Cons : The initial setup can be confusing since it took me some time to figure out how to activate the premium features.

Switched from : Sophos Intercept X

Reason to switch : Sophos did not have the built-in VPN and I wanted TotalAV’s everything in one package.

“Rea-Time Protection but Not Great Free Version”

My favourite feature yet is the real-time protection as it makes me feel safe while browsing as it catches threats before they become a problem. The free version however felt useless and more like a teaser to make you upgrade.

Pros : Its real-time protection feature really helps me feel that I can continue to browse my system. It keeps me informed of any potential threats.

Cons : I was using the free version and it was very useless – it mostly felt like a trial to push the premium subscription.

Switched from : ThreatDown

Reason to switch : ThreatDown was not giving me real-time updates on threats and not initiative-taking like TotalAV.

“Covers all my devices and gives peace of mind”

With a desktop, laptop and smartphone, I needed protection across everything. TotalAV’s plan worked well for me and I liked that it was one subscription for all.

Pros : TotalAV supports multiple devices and platforms (Windows, Mac, mobile) and includes extras like VPN and password manager.

Cons : Device limit on base plan may be lower than competitors for large households.

Switched from : McAfee

Reason to switch : McAfee was fine but its multi-device pricing was steep. TotalAV offered similar coverage for less, so I made the switch.

“Good value for freelancers and small households”

As a freelancer I just needed solid protection, not enterprise features. TotalAV gave me what I needed. No frills, good value.

Pros : TotalAV offers budget-friendly first-year pricing with extras like VPN and password manager.

Cons : If you have very complex needs (e.g., corporate firewall, advanced endpoint control) it may fall short.

Switched from : Webroot

Reason to switch : Webroot was lightweight but lacked deeper extras like the VPN or ad-block. TotalAV gave more for the same price tier.

“Finally affordable antivirus that just works”

I switched to TotalAV this year because my old antivirus was premium pricey and still felt sluggish. With TotalAV I got a fast, clean scan, low system impact (less than 1% CPU), and I didn’t feel weighed down.

Pros : TotalAV offers full real-time protection, system tune-up tools, an ad-blocker and even a bundled VPN in higher plans.

Cons : The renewal price is significantly higher than the first-year discount.

Switched from : Norton Antivirus

Reason to switch : Norton had become very expensive and I found TotalAV’s features (password manager, tune-up, VPN) matched my needs for a much lower first-year cost.

“Strong malware detection but still watch renewal cost”

After testing TotalAV I was impressed, it caught threats and my PC performance didn’t suffer. I just made sure to mark the renewal date to reevaluate pricing.

Pros : According to reviews, TotalAV achieved excellent malware detection and minimal impact on performance.

Cons : The renewal cost bumps significantly after the first year.

Switched from : Kaspersky Anti-Virus

Reason to switch : I moved from Kaspersky because even though it was strong, the interface seemed dated and upgrade path murky. TotalAV felt fresher.

“Great for web protection and cleanup but lacks firewall”

I wanted a security suite that did more than just antivirus. With TotalAV I got browser protection, ad-blocking and device-optimization tools. The missing firewall is a trade-off I accepted.

Pros : TotalAV has a strong web protection module (WebShield), ad blocker, VPN and protection across Windows/Android/macOS.

Cons : It doesn’t include a full firewall in its base plan.

Switched from : Bitdefender Premium Security

Reason to switch : Bitdefender had all the features but was getting pricey and heavier. TotalAV offered nearly as much at less cost and lower system impact.

When I had a question about configuring the VPN I used TotalAV’s live chat and got quick help. Good to see support that responds.

Reason to switch : Avast had support complaints in my circle and I wanted something with more reliable service. TotalAV seemed better in reviews, so I switched.
