“Budget-Friendly but Don’t Expect Every Feature”

I signed up for the Basic plan at $5/user and felt I was getting solid value. The cloud deployment guides for DigitalOcean worked like a charm. Browsing and transfers are snappy when the server is nearby. But I did see a few disconnects during large file transfers, and I had to troubleshoot a Mac client manually. Overall it’s dependable but not glitch-free.

Pros : Clear, affordable plans for small orgs or individuals with self-host options.

Cons : Occasional connection drops and speed issues; device compatibility varies.

Reason to switch : Switched from OpenVPN Cloud because UTunnel offered local server deployment and budget-friendly monthly pricing without sacrificing security basics.

“Great for Businesses, But Basic for Power Users”

I quickly spun up a site-to-site VPN to connect our AWS office with Linode and it just worked—30 minutes tops. Adding user management and SSO via Okta went smoother than expected, which was a win. On iOS and Android, the official apps are functional. However, the Windows client lacks a built-in kill switch and mobile obfuscation features are missing. Also, when I needed help, support was only ticket-based—no 24/7 chat.

Pros : Easy remote site-to-site setup, multi-platform clients, scalable.

Cons : No live chat support, polished apps lacking features like kill switch on Windows.

Switched from : Perimeter

Reason to switch : Migrated from Perimeter 81 because UTunnel offered easier cloud deployment, cheaper pricing, and full site-to-site on smaller budgets.

“Reliable & Simple—Perfect for My Small Team”

I set up UTunnel VPN for my small team and was blown away by how seamless it is. From deploying a server via their dashboard to connecting clients, everything is intuitive—even my less tech-savvy colleagues picked it up quickly. The OpenVPN/IKEv2 protocols and kill-switch give me real peace of mind for our remote work. It’s reliably fast and stable. That said, I wish they had more global server options and the dashboard doesn’t always clarify when logging is turned on or off.

Pros : Super easy to use, strong encryption + kill switch, affordable.

Cons : Limited server locations, some logging settings aren’t clear.

Reason to switch : Switched from NordVPN Teams because UTunnel let me self-host on my own cloud server while still offering affordable per-user pricing.
