New Delhi: In a groundbreaking move, AppOmni has introduced AskOmni, a digital assistant utilizing generative artificial intelligence to support the security of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications.

This week, the company unveiled a technology preview of the AskOmni assistant, designed to simplify the utilization of their SaaS security posture management (SSPM) platform. The innovation lies in the natural language chat interface to reduce the expertise needed to navigate the SSPM. AskOmni’s capabilities include risk assessments that offer remediation advice, alerts for excessive user access permissions, and real-time threat intelligence.

AppOmni’s Chief Technology Officer, Brian Soby, emphasizes the importance of providing cybersecurity teams with contextual information to quickly identify and address potential threats to SaaS applications. As these applications constitute an expanding portion of the attack surface, timely identification and remediation become paramount.

Soby notes that SaaS applications share cybersecurity responsibility with organizations, necessitating a focus on issues like preventing credential theft and managing insider access to sensitive data.

The rise in remote work since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increased reliance on SaaS applications within enterprise IT, posing a heightened challenge for cybersecurity teams. The AskOmni assistant, powered by generative AI, aims to streamline the process of improving application security. While the extent of its impact remains uncertain, the tool is expected to simplify issue resolution to reduce the burden on cybersecurity teams dealing with complex and overlapping alerts.
