On 22nd December 2022, F5 expanded its ‘SaaS-based’ security portfolio by announcing the release of ‘F5 Distributed-Cloud Services’ AIP (App Infrastructure Protection). This new release will give ‘cloud-native infrastructures’ application protection and observability.

AIP will be included in the ‘F5 Distributed-Cloud Services’ portfolio, which was introduced this year, and is developed using technologies acquired with ‘Threat Stack’.

F5 already offers an API Security service that assists businesses in finding and mapping APIs, blocking unauthorized connections, and guarding against data loss. AIP takes a step further by offering telemetry gathering and intrusion detection for workloads that are cloud-native.

Chris Ford (RVP, ‘Product & Engineering’) commented, “Organizations are drowning in complexity, and end users are demanding good digital experiences that require modernized back-end infrastructure. F5 Distributed Cloud was launched this year in order to address these problems and help customers secure their modern apps. The addition of F5 Distributed Cloud App Infrastructure Protection (AIP) furthers this mission and gives security leaders more observability throughout their modern environments.”

This offers ‘behavioral-based’ detection, which helps distributed cloud ‘AIP’ to identify internal and external threats and all types of data-exposure risks.

Ford further goes on to say, “Once deployed, AIP will begin collecting telemetry on all events occurring in cloud workloads. Customers will be able to access insightful analytics, gain assured compliance and increase their threat detection capabilities to improve their security posture”.
