Google has removed Pinduoduo, a Chinese budget shopping app from the play store post malware detection in several versions of the app. All these versions are not available to download for users after the founding of malware.
According to a report, many researchers have found several zero-day vulnerabilities issues after analyzing the application that might hack the user’s information. The app is temporarily suspected due to compliant issues with Google’s Policy.
Google has enforced protection protocol to block the users’ attempts to download any version of these apps from the play store. According to one of the Google’s spokesmen, the tech giant has warned the existing users to uninstall any malicious applications from their phone.
It is worth noting that Google play store is not used in China. However, the malicious apps were identified in the custom store of several smartphones manufactures including Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, etc., as per researchers.
Pinduoduo is one of the most popular e-commerce software in China, with almost 900 million users. The app works on the group buying model, that enables users to avail discount by inviting friends to purchase the same product in bulk.
