Hexagon AB, a software developer obtains a metal manufacturing software, CADS Additive GmbH. The acquisition sees CADS Additive as a component of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence Division. It will now combine its specialized CAD (computer aided design) tools into Hexagon’s software portfolio.

Their shared development roadmaps will hopefully improve workflows and ensure easy alteration of the orientation and structure of the 3D prints. CADS states that this will shorten the manufacturing process and will offer simple steps to curb quality implications.

Paolo Guglielmini, President, and CEO of Hexagon says that investing show the importance of manufacturing of additive, which has immense potential but is held back by a broken ecosystem which takes time to produce a result. The acquisition will provide the clients with tools that allow manufacturing teams to lower waste and ensure efficiency for an easier movement from prototyping to production.

Nexus, a newly launched platform, allows collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams through 3D printed products. It includes three apps, a cloud-based library; material simulation app and a reporting app. Hexagon says the new apps shall be added to Nexus overtime.

Guglielmini says that Nexus has opened the platform to the ecosystem partners and has given access to building blocks such as CADS Additive. It has helps clients improve the manufacturing value chain and unlock the industrial additive manufacturing potential.

Materialise, a 3D printing software, released Build Processor Software Development Kit (BP SDK) and metal 3D printing software. Materialise, through AI technology provides analysis and data which ensures quick and easy prior and post-processing quality inspections.

In addition, Authentise, workflow management software specialists, announced Authentise Threads, a work thread collaboration suite which combines tools for management & communication. The platform claims that this ensures faster return on investment (ROI).

Andre Wegner, CEO of Authentise states that the suite will balance the pliancy to adapt to ever evolving challenges, with the structure needed to make engineering workflows successful.
