Cluely Pros and Cons

Pros

pros_icon “For quiet rooms, predictable conversations, and prepared meeting contexts, Cluely’s suggestions & follow-ups are helpful. It does boost confidence.” Saji John Fernandez - Sep 16, 2025

pros_icon “The free tier gives a taste of features, and lets me test UI, basic prompt suggestions.” Saeed Ahmad - Jun 13, 2025

pros_icon “When Cluely works, it gives quick suggestions for objections, helps me recall previous points about customers, and supplies follow-ups. It improves confidence in calls.” Sheet Kumar - May 25, 2025

Cons

cons_icon “But when it “hallucinates” or misremembers, or suggests something wrong (e.g certain details a customer never said), it undermines credibility. Mistakes are visible.” Sheet Kumar - May 25, 2025

cons_icon “In real interviews, delay and generic replies make me feel less authentic. Also some institutions might consider usage unfair or disallowed. Reviews point these ethical concerns.” Abdrahamane Alexandre - May 3, 2025

cons_icon “The invisible listening/screen reading feels creepy. I worry about what data is stored, who sees it, and if it might violate consent laws. Several reviews raise these issues.” BOILANG PHOM - Mar 13, 2025

“Could Be Powerful for Selected Use, But Not a General Solution Yet”

I consider using Cluely in product demos or talks where I expect certain questions. But I wouldn’t rely on it in unpredictable interviews. Also, some times I had trouble cancelling or getting refunds, makes me wary.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Fellow

Reason to switch : I switched from Fellow because I couldn’t anticipate everything. Cluely promised real time assistance. It delivers partially—but I still hedge.

“Usage in Sales Calls Shows Promise, but Errors Cost Credibility”

In sales calls, Cluely has helped me by giving quick conflict rebuttals or questions to ask. But once it suggests something inaccurate, I have to correct or pause, which can break trust.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Meeting.ai

Reason to switch : I switched from using Meeting.ai because I needed something that works in real time during calls. Cluely gives that boost, but I keep human oversight.

“It’s Undetectable, Until Something Goes Wrong”

Using Cluely in a panel interview, I hoped for smooth help. Instead, when the AI was slow or off-mark, it was more distracting than helpful, and I think people might have noticed.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Otter

Reason to switch : I switched from Otter because it felt embarrassing; Cluely’s hidden mode sounded better—but real-world performance has highlighted some risks.

“Marketing Hype vs Reality: Needs Better Speed & Context”

I was excited to try Cluely in job interviews and sales meetings given the hype. In casual conversations it’s okay; in stressful moments the delays or hallucinations make me feel more scrutinized.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Fireflies AI

Reason to switch : I switched from Fireflies AI and libraries because they didn’t help in-call. Cluely seemed to fill that gap, though the performance isn’t always there yet.

“Freemium Tier Isn’t Very Useful, Upgrades Are Expensive”

I planned to try Cluely via free plan to see if it would help. It showed promise, but I found myself hitting walls (limits) quickly. After upgrading, I got more value but had to evaluate if cost justified risk.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Notezilla

Reason to switch : I moved from a cheaper assistant tool which had fewer limits upfront; Cluely’s paid plan gives more during meetings, but cost and ethical trade-offs weigh heavily.

“Slick Interface, But Big Ethical Trade-Offs”

I used Cluely during a practice job interview—having instant help was comforting, but when the AI delayed or gave incorrect info (saying I had a language skill I don’t), it made me look worse.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Fellow

Reason to switch : I switched because my old method (manual prep, rehearsals) didn’t cover live surprises. Cluely promised real-time assistance, though it's not yet perfect.

“Educational / Interview Situations Don’t Work Smoothly Yet”

I used Cluely to rehearse for college interviews—it helped me formulate better responses. But when I tried to use it “live,” I felt the delay and the generic-ness of answers hurt more than helped.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Fellow

Reason to switch : I switched from using Fellow because I wanted something to help in the moment. Cluely seemed to promise that, but I'm still evaluating how usable it is under pressure.

“Helpful Follow-Ups and Auto Notes, But Privacy Is Worrying”

I appreciate that after each video call, I don’t need to scramble to remember what was said, the auto-notes help. But morally and legally, using a tool that quietly listens feels risky.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Krisp

Reason to switch : I had used visible transcription tools before, but felt they were distracting during calls. Cluely promised a smoother, less intrusive experience—but not without trade-offs in ethics and clarity.

“Great Promise, Weak Execution So Far”

I tried using Cluely for a sales call, hoping to lean on it for handling objections. It helped somewhat, but when the response came late, it felt like I was waiting for the prompt rather than leading the conversation.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Fellow

Reason to switch : I moved from Otter (which only does after-call transcripts) because I wanted something that helps during the call. Cluely offers that, though I accept some real-time trade-offs.

“Big Privacy Red Flags, But Still Tempting for High-Stakes Situations”

I’ve used Cluely when doing sales calls, especially when I’m less prepared. It helps. But knowing that something like a security lapse could expose my data or transcripts keeps me uneasy.

Pros :

Cons :

Switched from : Sembly Notes

Reason to switch : I switched from using Sembly Notes that clearly disclosed its assistance because I wanted privacy and discretion. Cluely provides that—but now I wonder whether the trade-off makes it too risky.
