“Works but Not Great for Streaming”

I gave it a try because it was part of my antivirus suite. It’s nice on mobile and desktop since it's just clean visuals and a big “Connect” button. Connecting was quick, but when I tried to watch Netflix from another country it failed. I also saw that remote servers dropped my speed a lot—some reviews noted drops up to 41?%.

Pros : The Windows and Android apps are clean, fast to connect, and easy to navigate.

Cons : Doesn’t unblock Netflix or other streaming platforms, and performance on long-distance servers is sluggish.

Switched from : Surfshark

Reason to switch : I switched back to Surfshark because it lets me stream Netflix and gives faster, more consistent speeds on A/V content.

“Easy to Use but Lacks Power Features”

I started using McAfee Safe Connect VPN because it came bundled with my McAfee antivirus. It was a breeze to install and use—just click and go. The interface is friendly, and the kill switch (called Safe Reconnect) helps a bit. But I quickly realized it lacks things like split tunneling and doesn’t streamline switching between protocols. Plus, I had moments when the VPN dropped and leaked my IP.

Pros : The app is really simple. I like the “quick-connect” feature and basic settings explanations.

Cons : It doesn’t have advanced options like split tunneling, and no protection if the VPN drops.

Switched from : ExpressVPN

Reason to switch : I switched from ExpressVPN to McAfee at first because I wanted a unified package with antivirus—but I ended up going back to ExpressVPN for better privacy features and reliability.

“Good for Basic Privacy, Not for Power Users”

I liked that it had “bank-grade AES 256” encryption—feels solid. Installing on Windows and Android was smooth, worked right away. But I found it buggy: it crashed or dropped connections a few times on iOS and Windows. Also, there’s no clear privacy promise—they don’t say they don’t log your data, which worries me for serious use.

Pros : Uses strong encryption (AES 256) and is easy to install for beginners.

Cons : Drops connections, lacks transparency about logging, and isn’t ready for serious privacy needs.

Switched from : NordVPN

Reason to switch : I switched from NordVPN after trying McAfee, hoping all-in-one simplicity. But I went back to Nord because it’s faster, more reliable, and has a strict no-logs policy.
