Do barcode scanners use Wi-Fi?

An OMR scanner with hardware works in the following way:

• The scanner emits light onto the form
• It recognizes the variation of the light’s reflectance at specific positions on the form and identifies the black marks as they reflect less light than blank spaces
• The scanner’s computer software then recognizes the marks and converts the scanned images into computer-readable data
• Reports with graphical and statistical representations are automatically generated by the software.

Barcode scanners use Laser lights to scan barcodes and get information from them.

The major difference between rf scanners and barcode scanners is how they operate. Barcode scanners use lasers to scan barcodes that are black and white in color. RF scanners use radio frequency to detect tags and then get information.

Supermarket barcode scanners do not require AI because there is no autonomous activity in scanning barcodes. Barcode scanners used in supermarkets are mostly laser or image-based scanners that only have to read the barcode correctly.

A standard barcode scanner cannot read QR codes because QRs consist of dots, squares, hexagons, and other shapes which are only read by 2D scanners. A regular barcode scanner is scanned by 1D scanners because they are made of only lines with different thicknesses.
