How to Stop Discord From Opening on Startup?

Method 1: Turn Off Startup in Discord Settings

This is the easiest method.

1. Open Discord
2. Click the Gear icon (User Settings)
3. Go to Windows Settings (or App Settings → Behaviour on newer versions)
4. Turn OFF:
   • Open Discord
   • Minimize to Tray (optional)
      

Method 2: Disable Discord from Windows Startup (Task Manager)

For Windows 10 / Windows 11

1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager
2. Go to the Startup tab
3. Find Discord in the list
4. Right‑click → Disable

Discord will no longer start automatically.
 

Method 3: Disable Discord from Windows Settings (Startup Apps)

1. Press Win + I to open Settings
2. Go to Apps → Startup
3. Find Discord
4. Toggle Off
    

Method 4: For macOS Users

Step 1: From System Settings

1. Click the Apple menu → System Settings
2. Go to General → Login Items
3. Under Open at Login, find Discord
4. Select it → Click the minus (-) button to remove

Step 2: From Discord (Mac)

1. Open Discord
2. Go to Settings → Behavior
3. Turn off Open Discord on Startup (if available)
