To make vintage paper texture using Illustrator, follow the steps given below:

  • Create a new canvas
  • Open the toolbar and choose the Pen tool
  • Draw the outline of the paper
  • Use Wrinkle Tool and give the edges a torn look
  • Press Shift + R, to add depth to your drawing and give it a bit more realistic touch. Once you are done move the shape out of the canvas
  • Draw a rectangle and then color it with a shade of Mud Brown
  • Choose a blur brush and then tap some portions of the sheet
  • Select the rectangle and then tap on Object from the menu bar
  • Choose Create Gradient Mesh
  • Set number of rows to 4 and number of columns to 8
  • Choose Direct Selection tool and then select the points where you want to fill color
  • Choose eyedropper tool, pick a shade of Light Brown and then choose the points that you want to fill
  • Grab the points and then tweak the mesh points
  • Move the structure out the canvas
  • Click on Windows > Brush Libraries > Vector Pack > Grunge Brushes
  • Choose a vector brush and then draw some strokes. Once again, move the structure out of the canvas
  • Overlap the previously drawn two shapes and send the paper layer to the back
  • Choose both the layers and then Add Clipping Mask by pressing Ctrl + 7
  • Do the same with the paper and vector paint layer
  • Keep the grudge background over the mesh and then use Transparency effect
  • Set the blending mode to Multiply and then change its opacity to 10%
  • Tap on Effect > Stylize > Drop Shadow
  • At last, put the shadow shape and send it to the backwards. And there you have it a Vintage paper texture.
