“Non-intuitive, basic, and unattractive software”
Coming from EzyVet in my last practice, which is an incredible, efficient, extremely intuitive, truly beautiful (as advertised), and unbelievably customizable software that even accommodated the needs of a 99% "C" (extremely Type A) personality veterinarian like myself w/ minimal effort, Pulse has been a very dry pill to swallow. Going on 3 months of use currently and Pulse is somehow still the exact and polar opposite experience, with the additional 'feature' that the site makes me enter my username and password at least every third time I click any link in a p record on the site - even just to look at a p's Medical Record after I have just signed in to look at the home screen/scheduler. I love that Covetrus compounding pharmacy is integrated w/ Pulse, but that is its only redeeming factor.

Cons
Requires logging in repeatedly. Example of useless information: p's weight line graph have no information on x- nor y-axes and you have to hover over the data points on the graph to see the weight in both pounds and kgs, so you still have to pull up the list of data to see if the cat has lost 2 lbs in the last month or if it was last seen 3 years ago. Why even have a graph? The software also has a prescriptions tab, but you have to click on each individual medication to open a new page to see the dosing information for the medication. Why not have a drop-down arrow option (like they do for every other little thing) to allow you to see this information all in one location for trends over time/dose adjustments? They try to give you a ton of information, but it is not at all in any usable chunks or in similar locations to provide useful compilation of patient information in any timely manner. especially because it makes you re-enter your information and log in every one to three clicks that open a new window. The software also makes you confirm which user you want to make changes under in the record (like the exam forms and prescriptions) from a drop-down menu. I understand this for the prescriptions, because a Dr. is necessary for each RX, but even that Dr. information must be entered again from a separate drop-down menu within each script itself, so why are we having to make sure that the same person that logged in (in the last three pages, mind you) is still the one making changes in the EMR? So many redundancies that interrupt smooth workflow and make using this software an absolute headache. I commonly will offer suggestions to a company and work with them to resolve concerns (EzyVet, Scribble Vet, etc.) as they grow and learn what users want and they always respond graciously and with very helpful and mutually beneficial results. However, I feel that the problems with Pulse are so deeply ingrained in the basic outline and flow of the software that it would take an absolute overhaul.
Reason to switch
I changed practices and they already used Pulse software.
