To create a mind map in XMind:

  • Open XMind and start a new map or choose a mind map template.
  • he central topic appears by default. Click to rename it (e.g., Project Plan).
  • Add subtopics by pressing Tab or using the Insert > Subtopic option.
  • Add sibling topics with Enter or use the menu for more advanced branches.
  • Customize each topic using the formatting sidebar, where you can change colors, fonts, add icons, or attach notes and hyperlinks.
  • Choose different structures like radial, tree chart, org chart, etc., from the layout options in the toolbar.
  • Use relationships, boundaries, and summaries to show connections or group ideas visually.
  • Export your map as PNG, PDF, Markdown, or. xmind file via the File > Export menu.
  • Use XMind Cloud to sync across devices or share your file with collaborators.
  • Save your finished map as a template if you'll reuse the structure.
